Moving while growing up is an experience that makes you uniquely find comfort in yourself rather than a specific homeland or culture. I wish for everyone to experience this at least once , because once you grow up it’s very hard to recreate that feeling as an adult

I’m American thinking of moving or immigrating to Germany. I have friends there and a landing spot but trying to think about how to go about it… I don’t know German but my friends say I can use English until I learn. Do I move for a year and see if I like it? Is that long enough?

yes! especially since I'm a migrant to Germany...I suddenly have so much access to ability to travel around Europe, and I really feel like my best friends are always other migrant women or queer people because exactly like you said, we're looking for the best lives possible

I don’t know you were also an inmigrant! I’m also usually drawn to other migrants or people with migrant parents. Right now it’s been quite hard for me in school because of the language (ich bin in der 13. Klasse in Deutschland), but this video reminded me of why I’m doing all of this. Thank u 💗💗

Yes, I migrated from Poland to Germany at the end of the 80s as a child and it shaped me tremendously. (This + growing up in a violent home) I switch easily between languages and cultures, I want a lot from life and have made huge shifts and pivoted quite drastically throughout life. I have lived briefly in London and in Seville, Spain and am currently thinking about migrating again. I could go on about this for hours how much it has shaped me

100% I was born an immigrant and then immigrated twice myself and I always connect so strongly to others whos identity is formed from this. it's part the audacity to take up space and in places where you're not guaranteed it. Neither the place I hold a passport in nor the place I was born or live in now "claims" me. I must exist in a way that allows me to prosper.

I always felt that I was going to be an immigrant once I’m an adult. And now I am one although I was forced to immigrate (not what I expected to do when I was younger). And now I feel stateless. I don’t belong in my home country and recently realised that I won’t belong in any other country at all. It’s such a lonely feeling that is hard to process but it’s freeing me, at the same time, in ways I could never predict before.

Very true🩷 I speak three languages. I’m from Poland, have lived in Spain and 12 years now in England. And next year moving to Italy due to my partners job lol. So full on 🥰 but yeah migration keeps you going and keeps you on your toes

I have to agree! I remember moving abroad alone at a young age, meeting people from very different cultures, then coming back home and realizing how much strength this experience gave me and how much hungrier it made me for life because I realized I could make any place home. It felt like there was so much more of me I could not explore at home, no matter where I would had been born georgraphically. I was the one creating my home, not the country or not even anyone in partical. It made me feel so much strength within myself that I have been changed towards chasing something even greater after that. Although I do have to add that I guess there was always some drive within all of us (migrants, travelers) that led us to trying it ❤️ur amazing i love ur videos so much!
