Everybody posts "check on your strong caregiver." Hardly anybody does it the right way. You send a quick "Hey, how are you?" She says "I'm good," and you go on with your day feeling like you did something. But all you did was give her a chance to perform, and she took it, because that's what strong caregivers do. She tells you what you want to hear so you won't worry, so you won't dig, and so you won't see what's really going on underneath. The strong caregiver has carried everyone else's weight for so long she doesn't know how to put it down. She doesn't know how to say "I'm not okay" without feeling like a burden. Every time she tried, people got uncomfortable. So she stopped trying, the mask became permanent, and nobody questions it because the performance is too convincing. She won't bring up her pain on her own. You have to show her it's safe to let it out. Give her enough silence and enough safety that the mask gets heavier to wear than it is to take off. Most people check on the strong caregiver for their own conscience, not for her healing. They want to feel like they tried. But trying isn't a text. Trying is showing up with no agenda and staying until the real answer comes out. That first "I'm okay" is a test. She's watching to see if you'll accept it and leave. Most people leave. "If she's the strongest person you know, she might also be the most tired. Sit with her a little longer today." Your strong caregiver isn't really strong. She's just tired of being the only one holding everything together, and one day that will break her. PUT A 1 IN THE COMMENT IF YOU CHECKED ON A STRONG CAREGIVER TODAY💜 Be there before it does, not after. 💜 #HealingForCaregivers #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge #CheckOnTheCaregiver #CaregiverBurnout #CaregiverMentalHealth
