@true_crime.storiess: The popcorn incident A movie night in Florida ended in tragedy in 2014. The 71-year-old former police chief Curtis Reeves attended a cinema in Wesley Chapel with his wife. Before the movie began, he noticed that Chad Oulson, 43, was still texting on his phone. Oulson was messaging his daughter's babysitter. Reeves asked him to stop, and an argument broke out. Witnesses reported raised voices. Eventually, Oulson threw popcorn at Reeves' face. Moments later, Reeves pulled out a gun and fired. Oulson died, and his wife was injured in the hand by the shot. Reeves' defense relied on Stand Your Ground law, arguing that he had felt seriously threatened. The case dragged on for years until a jury ultimately acquitted him in 2022. To this day, the case is considered a symbol of the controversy surrounding self-defense laws in the United States.#truestory #horrorstory #crime #black #true
