@dailymail: Scientists have identified a previously unrecognized penguin species on the remote Kerguelen Islands in the Indian Ocean - the first new penguin species recognized in more than a century. The finding comes from research showing that gentoo penguins, once considered a single species, actually comprise four distinct groups 🐧 Although the penguins look nearly identical, genetic differences set them apart. Researchers also warn that several of the groups could face significant habitat loss as conditions change. #penguin #news #Science #indianocean #interesting
