Another thing about this I never understood, the ring. Why are we dropping thousands for a lavish ring? Is it pretty, yes but in the end it's a symbol of love and devotion. It shouldn't matter how much it was.

Go to home affairs keep the savings and dont loans. you get the same marriage certificat from home affairs as you would from expensive wedding bash. just cheaper.

Go to the Court to get married. Save money for a house instead of wasting it for 1 day. I will never understand why people have big weddings. It costs way too much for you and your wedding party. I’ll never understand why bridesmaids have to pay for someone else’s wedding. The couple should pay for the dress, shoes and any other things she wants on her day. It’s not others responsibility to foot the bill. It’s insane. The bride could want a really expensive dress for the bridesmaids. It’s absurd.

we made the decision to have a very basic courthouse wedding and spend the cash on our honeymoon. total for wedding - judge, lunch, rings - just about $600. oh, yeah... $7 for a day of parking downtown. his family lives overseas and couldn't make it anyway, my family was cool with whatever we wanted to do or not do. it was a perfect day, slept in, got dressed and drove downtown together, got married on the 14th floor of the courthouse with a panoramic view of the city out the windows. wandered around downtown afterwards snapping photos, and then tasted everybody to a nice lunch, and we were home in our pj's watching Netflix by the time it got dark. we later took an entire month for the honeymoon in Asia, wandering through 4 countries and just doing whatever we felt like doing. was originally going to be 5 countries, but we canceled the flight to hong kong and stayed in Singapore a few days longer instead.
