The emphasis he puts on how important it is to choose who you marry is slightly bonkers when you think about the irony of her experience. He talks about it as though the great decision was him choosing her, when she chose him too, and then had to endure being lied to, insulted, having the money signed away and being kept completely in the dark. The romantic part isn’t really that he chose well. It’s that, after all of that, she still chose him. She deserves a lot more credit in that story.

Wow. That’s a great story. 😳 First thing I thought : “that’s why who your marry is very important…” -> he’s advising against marrying himself haha… Buuuut the message I take is… “how you responds to bad situations matters more than the gravity of the situation…” not “chose wisely your partner”…
