I’m learning that grief isn’t something you leave behind as time passes. It’s something you learn to carry. Some days, the weight is barely noticeable. Some days, it takes everything in you to keep moving. And sometimes, in the smallest, most ordinary moment, you remember the person you would have called, the person you would have told, the person who should still be here… and the stone suddenly feels impossibly heavy. I think that’s what I wish people understood about grief. We don’t stop missing them because we’ve had a good day. We don’t love them any less because we laughed. And we don’t “move on” just because the calendar does. We simply learn to carry the love alongside the loss. And maybe that’s what healing looks like…not putting the stone down, but learning how to carry it. I’ll carry mine for you, Dad.
