@dailymail: Matthew Perry's family and closest friends are sharing a more personal look at the late 'Friends' star in Netflix's upcoming documentary, The One About Matthew Perry. In the newly released trailer, his sister, Mia Perry Bowick, reveals that he spent $7 million trying to overcome addiction, saying, 'That’s how seriously he took his disease.' The three-part series features Perry's loved ones reflecting on the struggles he faced behind his fame, alongside never-before-seen photos and videos from his family's private archive. It is set to premiere on Netflix on October 27. #matthewperry #celebrity #netflix #documentary #friends

“Spent 7 million to get sober” if you had to spend that much you never wanted to get sober. The people who get sober will tell you money has nothing to do with it

Unfortunately, If he had to spend that amount of money trying to get sober then he never wanted to be in the first place. an there’s nothing wrong with that it’s just he wasn’t ready you can’t force someone to want recovery unless they truly want it themselves an no amount of money can contribute to that

For all of the people saying they did it for $0, I’m happy for you, I really am. There are a lot of people who tried and aren’t here to speak on how it didn’t work for them

You can spend all the money in the world on rehab, but nobody can get you sober unless you genuinely want to change. The problem is believing someone else can fix you. And honestly, I question the motives of celebrity rehab facilities. If they profit from keeping you there longer, is their priority really your recovery?

It’s probably harder for celebrities because they have more access to to drugs because of their money. Much more than us regular folks. It is much harder to quit when you have a lifestyle that allows it

He had lots of money, he could have used it to keep abusing his addictions but he decided to get himself better, i know personally that the person in my family with addiction would spend all that money on alcohol
