@hayyyfarms: When it comes to running a farm, thinking about finances isn’t a choice - it’s a necessity. You cannot expect to take great care of your animals if you’re unintentionally blowing your entire budget in areas that aren’t as important, whether that’s from inefficiency or just not even being aware of where your money is going. We owe it to the farm as a whole to ensure that each animal is pitching in to be able to provide for the rest. Everybody runs on a budget. We’re not rich, and that’s life! 🐐 #farm #livestock #homestead #farmtotable #farmtok
i find it hard to even name 1 animal let alone 100

Unfortunately, if you don’t treat it like a business, then it’s just an expensive hobby.

I feel like such people just try to mask as morally superior ones by saying that living beings are more than just money/numbers for them, but they then ignore that this blindness towards necessities and finances won't actually help anyone. Like, yes, you can say you love your animals all you want, but if they haven't eaten these past few days because you didn't think about actually having enough money to buy feed for them... then such "love" becomes pointless or harmful. And if your farm can't feed you/get you enough money for living, then your own "beloved" animals can become prisoners of a malnourished ill farmer that barely survives themselves (like, if something happens to you, what will the animals do? Their farmer should be healthy and well fed too)... no amount of love will help with that!
There's also a question of if it's actually "love" for the animals or not, because often their idea of loving animals sounds selfish and is built on the concept of just having living beings for one's own entertainment without actually caring about animals' needs or feelings...
Rational thinking needs to be here together with emotional love to create a good environment for everyone, otherwise... the mask just cracks and shows issues that could've been avoided :c

Why do people act like that hasn’t always been the case? Farmers have always had to weigh cost vs benefit, ever since farming became a thing. It’s literally a business, and one we all depend on. If farmers didn’t manage their budgets, farms would shut down and we’d all starve.

numbers isn't the opposite of love. you can do both and find balance.
it's just not solely about emotions

Like the meat and milk they consume didn't come from an animal that was just a number.

That is so weird for people to be weird about money because at the end of the day running a farm is about a business not about loving the animals not that we don’t love the animals, but it’s a business

It's cause of our compassion. Humanity's greatest strength or its greatest weakness, there is no in-between.
