@abc7ny: A man was dragged to his death after his bag became trapped in the closing doors of an A train at the Utica Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant, officials say.
Hello this is me! I want to say, I understand that it appears as if I am smiling. I am not. In fact this situation has been haunting me for 24 hours. I have done nothing but attempt to defend, speak out, and spread awareness. To place blame on Yaw Boahene when this is the direct faults of the MTA and their refusal to hire staff and to implement PSDs is the type of thing that doesn’t hold them accountable.

No lie the conductors don’t even give you time to get on … literally like 10 seconds to get on or off the train once they open the doors . I’ve been saying this for years

usually the conductor looks out the window before entering the tunnel..cameras need to be outside the trains like the busses so the conductor can see the side of the trains

As a person who worked as a conductor, when something is caught in the door, the indicator light inside the conductor cab won't light up. there are two lights: the right side covers the doors behind the conductor car, the left covers the doors in front. Both have to be illuminated to give indication. if it doesn't light up, the conductor can't close the doors, nor turn their key to give indication to the train operator that the doors are closed and it's safe to move. For those saying how was the train able to move if a whole backpack was stuck: it's not possible. the conductor CAN NOT turn their key if a door is not closed all the way, that door's light would still be on above it. IF the riders bag strap got caught and it's not that thick, it's possible for it to be caught and the door light go off. But the conductor is still suppose to look outside the cab to make sure no one is close to the train before you give indication to the TO and you pull off. That's why you see them look to the right( back) then the left( the front). To make sure no one is too close to the platform before the train pulls off. If anyone observed someone being stuck before the train move, please yell out at the conductor right away. platforms are long, sometimes curved. there are usually screens to help see the parts a conductors eyes can't if it's a long or curved station. I am sorry to this rider. I hope they figure what went wrong and hold those accountable.

This is not an accident! I take the metro on a daily basis. Even when you takes the MTA buses the driver be quick to closed the back door. So many times after people do their grocery they’ll put the cart first and before they can get on the bus operator closed the door. I’ve witnessed this so many times!!!!
