@iswispod: Dear listener, this is a valid concern and sometimes you have to tell your friend what she may not want to hear… Would you tell your friend that you’re worried about her daughter’s diet or are you keeping your mouth shut? 👀
She should tell her. This is a medical emergency brewing, she’s at risk of developing diabetes, obesity, hypertension, kidney disease. They’re doing her more harm than good in the name of satisfying her.

Ppl need to learn how to speak without speaking lol. Just start a conversation about nutrition casually. Don’t bring up the child. Allow your friend to come to realization.

Approach her from a place of concern and advice not from a criticism. Advice with love and don’t just put out the problem try proposing small solutions. Orrrr you can just like change tactic and approach through what I like to call the “I heard” method eg I heard that balance diet helps children grow oh, or I heard that when children eat thus thing is makes them bloated oh, or let’s try this new recipes for the children…

The fact is Nigeria is such a fucked up country because i think we should have rules and enforcement that ensures the safety and protection of children regardless of what the parent feels like but i mean even in other advanced countries, children are still the most marginalised set of people. Parents need to start seeing their children as people and not just property. I dont think a parent has the right to raise their child however they choose because their idea of "raising a child" could be harmful to the child. I totally disagree with that. Children would eventually grow up to become adults and their upbringing would reflect on who they would eventually be as an adult. I think the friend should have a discussion with her friend about the childs diet cause she is a CHILD! She doesnt know better and should be directed, not forced, but directed in the right direction.

I just felt like this shouldn’t be hard to say. Idk but if that’s your friend and y’all are close then you should def say something. Of course you have to be careful in the way you word it but yeah.

It matters how you say it. Also don’t say it when the kid is around, I hated it when strangers would comment on my body and weight growing up. A child being chubby is actually normal before they grow in height, this is evidence based.

The child is not eating well at all but a child being chubby is actually normal before growth spurts. So don’t just look at a chubby child and start drawing these conclusions. This type of eating behavior should not be normalized in childhood. It’s sugar addiction

It’s a problem and she should speak up because the child is that way because of her parents ! A 2 yo is eating at-home meals but a 9 yo is asking for junk and has been this way since the kid could tolerate solids ? 2 separate meals all the time ? Children need adults who can make good and healthy decisions for them until kids become adults. Fast food ALL the time is not good parenting to me . Not saying junk here and there is bad but parents need to really think about the behaviors they’re fostering ;(
