I'm so happy my student loan (which increases much faster than true inflation so I can't pay it back) is being used to pay for millionaires to get free increases to their pension. It's not like 75% of them own at least one home

It is not affordable. “They’ve paid in” yeah not enough to what they are taking out. Otherwise we will have generations of people not having a state pension because the previous gen will have used it all up.

There is no “paid into the pot” as there is no pot. People that paid NI 15 years ago when it was introduced, were paying for the current pensioners back then. Just like now, my NI goes towards today’s pensioners. However - we have an aging population, which means we’ll be paying more on the triple lock than any other generation, as there are more pensioners to pay for. The difficulty is, due to an aging population, there’s less “young-ens” in work to fund the triple lock. Something has to change.

It’s all nice keeping pensions in line with inflation, but when you’ve got one person struggling to pay their rent every month, and the other person sitting in a house worth over a million, it’s not exactly a level playing field. State pension NEEDS to be means tested against high and low liquid assets.

Good, pensioners that exist in our current time enjoyed the best of everything and pulled the ladder up after them whilst still managing to maintain their cushy old agreements at the cost of the rest of us.
