A mature adult woman can receive feedback and reconsider her decisions without assigning another adult automatic authority over her simply because he is male.

I used to babysit for this family when I was 15 and their kids ages ranged from 2 to 9 and there were five of them. I watched them the entire summer for $10 a day, five days a week 10-13 hours a day. Fast-forward to when I was 19, I was talking to the parents just having a normal conversation because we obviously remained friends and I told them that I did not plan on ever spanking my children. The father got into such a heated argument with me saying I have no idea what I will be doing because I don’t have kids yet. That man forgets I basically raised his kids for an entire summer when the two year-old was shitting on the porch and the nine year old lit multiple fires. I never understood why he got so mad that I had no intentions of hitting my kids, though. He must’ve felt like a really bad dad, which, in fact he was, and that was why I kept watching those kids under those conditions for that pay.

I had this conversation the other day, my exact sentiments were why would I as a grown functional adult who is fully autonomous and was living alone by myself for the last 15 years need to be corrected or lead by anyone else. And especially by someone who has never lived on their own.
