The RSPCA launched an animal cruelty investigation after Kentfield brought Rubic's lifeless body into the New Cross PDSA Pet Hospital on 27 November 2025. Vets found the dog weighed just 21kg, giving him the lowest possible body condition score of one out of five. Every bone in his head, ribs, spine, and pelvis was protruding beneath his skin, with no visible muscle or body fat remaining. Veterinary experts confirmed Rubic endured prolonged suffering, noting that severe hunger would have consumed almost every waking moment. Pressure sores across his emaciated body indicated he spent extended periods lying on his bones, while overgrown claws showed a complete absence of activity. Kentfield offered no explanation for his death or condition. At Bromley Magistrates’ Court on 14 September, Kentfield admitted an animal welfare offence. She was handed a ban on keeping animals until further order, with a minimum of five years before she can apply to lift it, and ordered to pay £300 in court costs.
