It should always be clean regardless of price or cleaning fee. If the price doesn't cover cleaning the space, they simply need to raise their prices.

My favorite Airbnb, the only one I’ve returned to is a beach shack that doesn’t have a functioning lock on the front door. It needs to be torn down. It’s perfect.

So what if it’s cheap it’s ok for it to be nasty?? Idc if your house is filthy if you’re getting money to rent out a place it should be clean. Like you said if they’re getting a cleaning fee it especially needs to be clean! But I don’t believe cheap should equal dirty

people who can only afford $50 a night still deserve to sleep in a clean space. full stop. cleaning fee or no cleaning fee. regardless of area, regardless of time of year, regardless of anything else. if I'm paying anything to lay my head somewhere to sleep and wash myself when I wake up, it needs to be clean to at least a reasonable standard. cleanliness is not a luxury, it should be a standard

If you're staying in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge, TN..you might as well assume that you're most likely going to stay at an Air BnB that isn't overly clean. Thats the #1 complaint I see in the FB group page for traveling to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge & its several different cabins/cabin owners. Most of the cabin owners here are corporations & live out of State & have NO idea what their cleaners are doing & have no one managing their properties to double check standards.

Clean is the absolute baseline. If a host can't afford a cleaner, they need to do the work themselves. Elbow grease doesn't cost a dime. Cheap means less features, distance from attractions, shared spaces, low tech. It shouldn't mean scuzzy.

I was charging $30 a night to rent a room in my apartment, pool included. My apartment wasn’t always the cleanest but their room and bathroom were always clean. No cleaning fee. Then someone gave me 3 stars because I didn’t provide towels, which I stated in the description. I deleted the app that day, hospitality is not for me.

I could maaaaaybe understand it not being spotless, like smudges on the windows, dusty shelves type things, but that level of dirty is almost unliveable.

cheap means basic amenities not gross. like maybe it’s bare bones. maybe no tv or anything, just a bed and a bathroom. that would be cheap. and to me clean doesn’t even have to be spotless, but it’s not nasty. like maybe you don’t deep clean the bathroom every time but you definitely wipe it down. and maybe your blankets and pillows are a little worn but you definitely wash them in between guests 😳

It has to be clean, no matter if there's a fee or not. I would 100% report that location to Airbnb. At a cheaper price I would accept the furniture to be rundown and of lower quality, but I don't compromise on cleaning that's something I 100% expect from any business. And yes Airbnb is a business venture even if you just rent out a room in your house.

it has to be clean ... they set the price so then change a bit more and get a cleaner in once a week. they'd still be way under what other places are changing. I will never understand slum lords why would they not want to maintain their investment. if it gets to gross no one will rent it.

I expect it to be CLEAN at any price. I don’t expect it to be well decorated and stocked with any extra amenities at a cheap price. but being clean is the bare minimum

At a low price, I don’t expect luxury. I don’t expect updates. I don’t expect super nice accommodations but regardless of price point and being charged a cleaning fee or not I do expect it to be clean. If the faucet broke yesterday and the Airbnb host, let me know about it and that they’re working to get replaced. That’s fine. That’s another thing but bugs on the floor absolutely not at that point the host is just taking advantage of the situation. I think the bare minimum regardless of price point is that the place should be clean
