While you might think it’s just a glitch, scammers could be draining your bank account to zero at that very moment—and they don't even need your card details to do it. This scheme is known as "SIM swapping," and here’s how it works. You receive a call from a confident-sounding person: "Good afternoon, this is Kyivstar (or Vodafone) support. Your number is being blocked due to a database error," or they hit a pain point: "We’re switching you to a new tower to ensure stable internet, even during power outages." By this point, you trust them. Then they tell you an SMS is coming and ask you to read out the code to confirm the switch. You do indeed receive an SMS from the operator—and you read out the digits. That’s it. After that, your signal bars vanish for good. What actually happened? By providing that code, you authorized the scammers to remotely transfer your SIM card to themselves. Now, consider this: absolutely all your important apps—banking apps and messaging services—are linked to your phone number. This means the scammer doesn't even need your password. They simply open the app, select "Forgot password," and reset access via an SMS sent to your number—which is now in their possession. In just 10–15 minutes, they can drain your bank accounts and max out your credit limits. And the worst part is, you can't even call your mobile operator because you no longer have a signal. Here are two rules from the cyber police. First: a legitimate operator will never ask you to read out a code from an SMS—if you hear that request, simply hang up. Second: link your phone number to your passport—either at a nearby carrier store or directly in the Diia app. Once you do this, it will be impossible for anyone to physically steal your SIM card. In effect, your smartphone is the door to the safe containing your money. Don't hand out the keys to it. Share this video with your loved ones—parents, grandparents, and anyone else who might not be aware of this scam.

реально є люди, які диктують якісь коди?... ну певно шо є, інакше не було б стільки офісів, це риторичне питання, просто мене дивує це.. навіть сам факт говоріння по телефону з незнайомцями, якщо це не пов'язано з роботою і ти повинен підіймати слухавку

привязываешь сим карту к паспорту и блокируешь замену сим. как результат без личного присутствия с паспортом сим карту не перевыпустят и для этого не нужен контракт

в мене в банку є пароль я звоню своєму менеджеру називаю пароль а не код і тіки тоді я можу зделать перевод , без пароля банк не може перевести нічого.
