They literally have signs saying to stay back at least 25 feet. We saw a couple when I went a few months back and we made sure not to get too close. Snapped a couple photos got back in car and left them in peace

this is yearly all thru WNC we know we will see at least 10 videos a season of idiot tourists ignoring the PLETHORA of signs warning you to stay the hell away from the elk... if you give them space they are so gentile and peaceful and cool to watch there's absolutely zero reason to approach them EVER we have wonderful park service if one is injured or in need of help in some way CALL THEM PLEASE
