⬇️Recipe⬇️ If you’ve ever had a cocktail with a deep purple cherry that actually tastes amazing, chances are it was a Luxardo. The real deal is not your average maraschino (luxardos run about $25 a jar!) They are Italian maraschino cherries made from sour cherries candied in a rich syrup of their own juice. They’re intense, sweet, slightly bitter, and full of complex flavor. You’ll find them in classic cocktails like the Manhattan and Old Fashioned. To make something in between the generic maraschino and the complex luxardo (but still pretty darn good!) try my new recipe! It'll make you a pint and a half of cherries. 1/2 cup sugar (I used white but brown would be better) A pint and a half's worth of PITTED cherries (I used a little less than a pound about but it'll depend on the size of your cherries) 1/2 cup cherry juice (my cherries sat in the fridge after being pitted so I was able to just drain juice from their bowl, but you could also purchase it) 2 tsp vanilla 1 cinnamon stick 1 cup cherry liqueur (I used the cheap stuff) Simmer all of the ingredients for around ten minutes, ensuring all the sugar is dissolved, then pour over the pitted cherries. Store in the fridge for a few months, or you can can them (what a great gift!) but honestly they won't last very long 😋 use them in cocktails, on ice cream, in your kombucha, for snacking, whatever! #homestead #homesteadmamas #luxardocherries #cocktailgarnish #maraschino #homebar #classiccocktails #mixology #oldfashioned #manhattan #craftcocktails #luxardo #cherryharvest #cherries
