@deputy.speaker.movement: Today, as the House reconvened after our annual recess, I moved a motion on the urgent need for immediate intervention to address the escalating ecological crisis in my constituency, Bende Federal Constituency, which has resulted in the loss of lives and property in Ugwueke, Amaokai, Amaeze and Ezeukwu communities. This unfortunate incident has left me devastated and deeply disturbed since it occurred, and I am determined to ensure that a lasting solution is delivered without delay. Following the motion presented on my behalf by Hon. Daniel Amos, the House called on the Federal Government to urgently approve and fund the erosion and flood-control measures, which include drainage systems, gully stabilisation, watershed management and channel rehabilitation. In honour of the lives lost in this tragedy, the House also observed a minute’s silence to commiserate with the affected families. My thoughts and prayers remain with my dear constituents who have lost their loved ones and property in this terrible disaster. We will ensure that the necessary support is provided to alleviate their suffering and that a lasting solution to this menace is brought to the affected communities. I urge all constituents to extend their love, support and prayers to all those affected as we stand together in this difficult time. Together, we will rebuild the affected communities and restore hope to every family.
