this engine is angled slightly more than a normal 4 cylinder. there is a recall for ignition spark timing following an auto stop event, basically when you release the brake start the engine the spark timing would be EVER so slightly off and it would cause an ignition knock and send the piston through the block

I looked at GM and they went with a tiny 1.5l turbo. I smelled engine failure a mile away. I bought Toyota Rav4 same size suv with 2.4 engine. No regrets, has 150k and it is still flawless.

My coworker is currently fighting with GM FOR THIS VEEY ISSUE ON HIS. 12,000 ish miles, just had an oil change done at the dealer. it caught fire and the dealership is trying to say not all of its covered "while the engine is covered, the damage done by the engine coming apart is not covered"

Personally, the last of the semi-reliable era is around 2010-2015, even my 2021 Toyota Camry is having issues at like 90,000 miles but my 2010 Prius is running like a champ at nearly 300,000 miles, I feel like there was a shift in management and goals for more profits

thats what happens when the wet oil pump belt wears out. oil starvation then catastrophic engine failure.
