@jihyeejung: Kinda hesitated to post this, but I wanted to talk about an issue I usually just ignore. It’s not my first time dealing with racism here, but it WAS my first time experiencing it from a kid, and it really shocked me 🥺 📌 what happened: I was walking past a primary school when a few kids started yelling ’Ni Hao‘ and eventually ’Ching Chang Chong‘ at me. I couldn’t just ignore it, so I walked up to them. I filmed myself as proof so I wouldn’t look like “a weird stranger” approaching kids. When I asked what they said, they just laughed in my face. I wanted to explain why that was wrong, but a teacher nearby did nothing, so I realized I couldn’t really step in and just walked away. how should we handle situations like this..?hmm

I live in the Czech Republic (I'm born here) and i heard those words more than I can count. In these type of situations. I think it is better to ignore it. Or just nod and act calm. They would find it more enjoyable when I show any kind of anger or annoyance

It's shocking that the teacher allowed it. Pls go with your video to the institution and search the director and show them the video.
If she chooses to ignore you threaten her with going to the media about this

i am really sorry you had to go through that because german kids especially teenagers can be really racist (it gets on my nerves sm omfg). if you just ignore them idk if they will learn anything out of it but sometimes if you confront them they might not take it serious but i think it would be better to confront them

I feel you girl 😭racism is suprisingly a problem in Germany, towards Asians too. It hurts honestly but dont let it get to you, we'll just hope those kids learn when theyre older. Maybe in future encounters,u could walk up to them and kindly ask them why they said that, then gently tell them that its wrong and hurtful! Just do whatever gives you more peace :)

I‘m so sorry for you. Germany definitely has a racist problem and even worse they have a big problem calling someone out on their bad behavior especially in public 🙄

you can tell the teacher about this or write an email to the school to inform and lecture their students properly. And don't forget to add "it's 2026" 🙂↕️

I’m not Chinese but I do speak the language. When my students ask how to say hello in Chinese, I would teach them but also remind them to make sure who they’re saying it to is a Chinese

Next time, if this happens, point this out to the teacher IMMEDIATELY. Please say that you are not ok with the way the kids behave and tell the teacher to do his/her job properly. They should learn to take accountability, otherwise they will keep doing this to other asian and get away with it. If the teacher ignore, please report the incident to the director and the police. Make a big scene out of it. This is how things are done in Germany.
