HR girlie here. connect with employees from the company especially in leadership on LinkedIn. Send them messages. If you don’t hear back after applying send hr an email pitching yourself and make sure to attack your resume. Once you do have those interviews please please please send a thank you email! It’s so small but goes a long way

Build a portfolio tailored for the internship :) with their brand colors, focusing on the job description + send it to hiring managers/ppl at the company who could get it to the hiring managers

If you already have the company in mind, go for it!! 🤍 Find the person who would actually manage the intern (or someone on the team you’d love to work with) and reach out directly via LinkedIn. Mention your experience at Pickle + what you’ve built on social, and honestly, I’d even send a little 30-second video or voice note introducing yourself and saying why you’d LOVE to work there. It makes it so much more personal and gives them a reason to remember you 🫶

Network! Don't spam via LinkedIn, email and stuff but check if there is an industry event and go.

Apply apply apply and maybe make content that shows you are aligned with the brand. Tbh idk your major and pickle seems a bit random bc you’re not a fashion girly, for example Cates aligned everything really well. Try to think a little more long term - interning is always a step towards building experience in your field - even tangentially - which was pickle for you, it gave you great content and social media marketing but you already do that. I’d pick one that will stretch your skills. If you do anything related to your financials, marketing analytics could be good. Think outside the box the more niche skill you target the less competition

Learn how to interview. I’ve interviewed so many people who went to amazing schools, had amazing experience, but completely bombed the interview process. Learn how to interview, practice practice practice, come fully prepared for anything. That’s my biggest tip!

Warm referrals will always win. You’re now part of at least your sorority network - you can reach out to older girls or alumni and see if any have a connection. One time my now husband but boyfriend at the time went to a career fair for me and got me my dream job by telling the recruiter to put a star on my resume. So literally having anyone else vouch for you can be amazing. But I also think your approach of pitching yourself and what you can do is amazing and reduces the mental load of the person hiring you and trying to figure out how to best use your time as an intern especially when companies are hiring interns so far out from the when the work is actually happening

You saying you got it the unconventional way it honestly the way. Think differently. Be different. Approach them with why you want the job even if it isn’t posted. Don’t be scared of a no. Network along the way. Just because you may not be the right fit for their current needs doesn’t mean you won’t be in the future or that they don’t know someone who you might be a great fit for.

Network unfortunately. Find people on LinkedIn, and try to connect with people who work there. Just make sure you do it in a way that isn’t asking a ton of that person or sending a basic message. I get a lot of them because of where I work and it gets a little tiring even though I want to help, especially when I’m busy. BUT if you say something that peaks their interest or makes them want to connect with you, it will help massively when you apply to get the role. I grew my career this way

Have lots of different people look at your resume now. I’ve seen incredible candidates with very drab or jumbled resumes or they even have mistakes or typos. List school stuff but also focus on your real world experiences. Always submit your resume and cover letter as a PDF so it doesn’t end up as a jumbled mess. Once you apply, also send your cover letter and resume to HR and potential managers and tell them you applied. Think about where this company might be.Are there any trade shows or industry events you can walk and talk to people in person? Try to get an article published about last year’s internship and what you learned. Build a digital portfolio now and use a graphic designer to ensure consistency between your resume, cover letter and portfolio. Link that portfolio in your resume along with your skills.

Have someone who works there refer you for the job. Then when you get the interview, talk to them like you would a normal person. Share a story that is unique and personal to let them know that you have depth and are willing to give them a glimpse into who you truly are. A r
