@stand.earth: In one announcement, Canada increased its pollution exponentially and made reaching climate targets next to impossible. Not actually the news we wanted to wake up to... 😡 Today, the massive expansion of the LNG Canada export terminal off the coast of BC was announced. This expansion would double the climate pollution from the facility – already equal to nearly twice the emissions from all passenger cars in Canada annually. 😱 LNG Canada is one of the most polluting gas facilities in the world…and now the federal government wants to...checks notes...double that? Yup. This is the same facility that flared more gas in 2025 than any other LNG export facility in the world and has faced malfunction after malfunction. ⛓️💥 Not to mention, this expansion is going to just intensify the risks to whales, salmon, and Indigenous communities. So, in sum: Canada is welcoming a bunch of foreign oil executives to profit off a climate-destroying, community-harming project and leave us with the consequences and cleanup bills. 🙃 It’s outrageous and makes no sense. We are taking a stand against the environmental rollbacks and threats to our communities, nature, and climate. Sign the petition now. Link in bio.

This is incredibly clean energy compared to all the manufacturing in China and India and abroad. They burn endless coal. This is great for Canadians. If things are built here, we can regulate the pollution.

I just don’t understand the logic between resource economics and people hating it so much when it’s our major exports it’s mind-boggling because without that our provinces other industries would suffer greatly. They don’t want oil, they don’t want forestry, they don’t want excessive farming, they don’t want excessive usage of water, they don’t want minerals to be dug up and open mind pits, they don’t want anything to be disturbed in the environment, submissions. I can get on board with for sure, but technologically, speaking and industry speaking we’re not where everybody wants us to be. Why can’t we just be accepting of these things? Instead of making it more difficult to make all industries successful through the benefit of the major exports and exports of resources. Within reason, of course.

LNG is far less polluting than coal or oil which these exports will directly offset. We can’t look at combating climate change in a vacuum, global emissions and efforts are required.

I understand protecting the environment but like it or not we need money. It’s a delicate balance but lng is cleaner and far more efficient than coal. Not every country can have large hydro damns, not evey country can have nuclear power. Wind and solar are still not reliable enough and need large amounts of land. It’s never going to be perfect and we have the resources countries need.

maybe but producing more lng reduces the worlds dependance on burning coal therby reducing global emissions far more than it increases.
