My kids were always told to go with the 1-2-3 rule. 1 - tell them to stop and walk away. 2 - if they don’t you tell them again to stop and what the consequence will be if they don’t. 3 - the consequence.

I was always told to never start but always defend myself. Idk it’s double edged sword 🙃

It depends on the age, for toddler age tell them to stop and find an adult but as they get older, you can defend yourself if need be

Honestly, when my son was a toddler, he was bitter. I was just hoping that a kid would bite his ass back so that he would stop 🥴 muzzles are frowned upon

My son is 9 and has been consistently bullied. He has always been told to get an adult. Eventually that made him a “snitch”. When we tried a new approach more along the lines of “don’t start no shit, won’t be no shit”, things got better.

I tell her to say “STOP! I don't like that!” and then if they do it again you walk away /get away from that person nanf go tell an adult immediately.

At two you teach her to put up her hand in a stop motion and say loudly no stop! Start talking about her bubble and other people’s bubbles. Teach her if she’s wants to hug someone or someone wants to hug her they have to ask. If the other child doesn’t stop teach her to seek out an adult. If she retaliates in return it can be turned on her.

Listen. My dad said I’d be in trouble if I didn’t defend myself. 😁

I would start teaching the boundary song now. and teach your kiddos if they don't like it say it, be loud about it and when you say no that's it. move away and let the teacher know and only defend yourself if you can't safely get away(but that's more 4+ imo)

I believe defending yourself is different than starting a fight. And kids should know the difference between these two.

I've taught my daughter to shout, a sloud as she can "Stop, you're hurting me" and then move away

It changes as they grow up. When mine were little like Tate, you find an adult. When in elementary (my youngest currently) you say stop and if it keeps happening find an adult. Now that my oldest is a teenager, don’t start shit but don’t take shit.

I always told mine to get me or the adult in charge if it’s at school. I told them that’s not “tattle telling” if someone intentionally hurts them.

I told all my kids don’t start anything but you absolutely finish it. And even if your brother or sister is in the wrong, you’re on their side. They’re all in their 20s now and I think I’ve raised some strong. Independent adults. ❤️❤️❤️

When I was a toddler I used to bite to defend myself. The adults didn’t like it but it worked perfectly for me 😂

Say very loudly “stop hitting/biting me!” and get away. This will get the attention of an adult nearby

I feel like I always dealt with the kid doing the hitting, whether it was mine or not. Maybe not the best response. They're in their 20s now and don't get in fights so I think it worked out
