As I told my buds getting into and getting back to destiny 2. Focus on finishing the campaigns you do have you unlock some exotic quest and missions that are good. Go to ikora and buy all aspects, fragments and gernades.

My biggest advice go through the campaigns first dont worry about strikes, builds, nightfalls, etc. just go through the campaigns and just have fun. Find a class and subclass you really jive with and build into it. Learn how the subclass plays and just have fun with it. Dont worry about min maxing stats or armor bonus’s just get through the campaigns (shadowkeep, beyond light, witch queen, etc) these will teach you core mechanics and help you build on your knowledge of the game

Play for fun, test the guns yourself and see what you enjoy. Dont worry about the META unless you’re trying to do some really difficult stuff. Play the campaigns and missions you can, listen to the lore, don’t worry about collecting exotics, they’ll come in time. If there’s a specific one you want, as you said, you can always go to YouTube or give it a google search. Google is your best friend, whether you’re a new light or a D1 vet like myself; there’s always something that needs a google lol. What type of tips are you looking for? My advice is doing all the content from the start (or the closest to the start considering the vaulting) to the finish. You’ll find a lot more sense and more than likely enjoyment out of it all

don't listen to the people who tell you not to do something. just because they don't enjoy it. you might like gambit for example. it's a nice mix of pve and pvp just do what you want to play

Armour wise depending on what you do you (pve/pvp) your stats should have at least 2 100s should get ya by tbh with the changes to armour it doesn’t matter too much on what you use it’s the stats they provide for you is what ya wanna pay attention to it’s a lot hard to quad100 but if your stats are 70+ per stat you’ll be fine

If you're trying to figure out good or bad for weapons, one easy thing is go to Light.gg. Search the weapon name. It'll show you all the rolls it can get. If you click "most popular" below that, it will automatically select and you can see how those stats and traits effect the weapon along with if you hover over the traits in the columns it not just tell you "does more damage" but will actually tell you the percent more, how long etc. It will also tell you the most popular combos of traits on that weapon. Something easy to do starting off to kind of see good from bad weapons

play whatever you enjoy find guns an armor that look nice and dont worry on stats unless youre going for triumphs or hard raids an dungeons I play for fun an have over 100 exotics and still just worry about what guns and cosmetics I dont stress on builds or whats good its all usable 🙏
