@tylerallison92: The mentality in the oilfield has changed a lot. It’s an enjoyable place to work, a lot more civilized and not nearly as chaotic as it was many years ago. Many have asked how rough it is in the oilfield because they see the over dramatic seens posted online. Reality is the oilfield is not a rough place to work at all anymore. By no means is it an office environment but it’s also not like the movies.

Same with logging, I always hear about how guys would get out of the crew trucks and just get in fist fights every day, fist fights during work hours, guys girlfriends cheating with co workers. Definitely ain’t the Wild West anymore.

2 of my guys motorhand and roughie full on fought over a grease gun. On a rig service I was doing my walk around and all of a sudden just yelling I ran out of the pump and they were throwing hands. I had to separate them it was hilarious. Then later that day buddies again.

Scrubbing is a serious business out there [Laugh approved] Some guys are just Aholes and that’s the part I never liked about it out there. I went overseas and I only had really one issue with one guy. He kept yapping until I couldn’t take it anymore. I was driving from camp to the rig, he started before we even got onto the highway which was like 1/2 Km from camp. I pulled over, I got out and called him out. I was pissed and I don’t really say much ever. I am a pretty big man 6’1 235lbs. He wouldn’t get out of the car. That was the last time he beaked off, he got run off not long after that. I continued to worked there for a total of 23 years. Fun and games [Tears of joy]

First day of earthworks I met a dude that got fired cuz his foreman up north ratted him for coke. Came in a few days later with his hands covered in blood. Seen him at the Tim’s in the morning and damn near killed him. He’s dead now, but some of those guys are just fuckin nuts
