Which is the true church: the Catholic Church or the Evangelical Church? Many people argue about this question. But today, I want to tell you a truth that may make some people uncomfortable: the Bible never calls us to believe in a particular religious label. It calls us to follow the same Lord. The true church is not determined by the name written above the door, and it is not determined by which denomination you belong to. What truly matters is this: Have these people genuinely repented? Have they truly been born again? Are they obeying the words of Christ? So the real question is not: “Am I a Catholic or an Evangelical Christian?” The real question should be: “What is the church I attend actually preaching?” Does it preach repentance, the cross, holiness and obedience according to the Bible? Or does it only talk about feelings, blessings, success and emotional comfort? In some places, the church buildings are magnificent, the programmes are impressive, and the atmosphere is lively. But they rarely talk about sin, and they rarely talk about repentance. People simply attend services, sing songs and experience a brief emotional high. But once the service is over, they continue living the same way they did before, continue following the world and continue living in sin. A place like that, even if it has the word “church” above the door, may be little more than a religious social club in God’s eyes. But there are also gatherings that are very simple, with only a small number of people and an ordinary meeting place. Yet they seriously study the Bible, lead people away from their former way of life, walk the narrow way, and prepare for the Lord’s return. A group like this is what truly belongs to God in His eyes. That is why the Bible warns us in Matthew 7:21: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21, KJV God will not automatically give you a ticket into the kingdom of heaven simply because you belong to a particular denomination.
