🎙️ WORSHIP LEADERS, LET’S TALK ABOUT SKILL. A worship leader who refuses to grow is eventually going to become a burden to the team they’re supposed to be leading. Yes, you are called. Yes, you are anointed. But anointing is not a substitute for preparation. Think about it: would you willingly lie on an operating table and say, “The surgeon is called, so it doesn't matter if they’ve never learned how to use a scalpel”? 😭 Exactly. Why do we expect people to trust us with their worship experience when we refuse to be trained in the thing we’ve been entrusted with? Who said a worship leader shouldn't study music? Who said you shouldn't take vocal lessons? Who said you shouldn't learn your instrument? Who said you shouldn't understand harmony, keys, rhythm, arrangement, dynamics, stagecraft, or even basic music theory? If this is your calling, study it. Listen to great music. Research. Take lessons. Ask questions. Sit under people who are better than you. Rehearse. Receive correction. Practice when nobody is watching. Because you become what you consistently expose yourself to. And the way you think about yourself will eventually determine how you approach your growth. If you keep telling yourself, “I'm anointed, I don't need training,” you will eventually use anointing as an excuse for mediocrity. And here's the uncomfortable part: 100% attitude + 0% skill is not humility. Sometimes it's simply refusal to grow. And when you refuse correction, constantly have issues with your team, blame everyone else, and never examine your own contribution... you stop being an asset to the team and become a liability. 😭 Worship isn't a competition to see who can sound the most spiritual. It is stewardship. If God has entrusted you with a microphone, honour Him by becoming better at using it. Don't just pray for a bigger platform. Prepare for the platform you are praying for. Your private practice is part of your ministry too. Your education is part of your ministry too. Your character is part of your ministry too. Your willingness to receive correction is part of your ministry too. The goal isn't to be the most gifted person in the room. The goal is to be teachable enough to keep growing. ❤️‍🔥 Called? Yes.
