@gamingdocmbbs: Current UK guidance has moved away from treating asthma with a blue SABA inhaler alone. The focus is now on ICS-containing treatment, so you're treating the airway inflammation as well as the bronchoconstriction. This principle is not just UK-specific: GINA recommends against SABA-only treatment internationally, including for adults and adolescents. However, US national NHLBI guidance hasn't been updated to exactly mirror the current UK pathway, so I wouldn't say “the US guidelines are the same.” Sources: BTS/NICE/SIGN asthma guideline; Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA); NHLBI/NAEPP (US). #Asthma #AsthmaAwareness #Inhaler #Salbutamol #medicaltiktok
was told by my respiratory pharmacist they were getting rid of my blue inhaler so they didnt prescribe me a new one. a month later I ended up in the er. they asked why I didnt take my rescue inhaler. I told them why. the dr went pale in the face and said quietly "so many people are going to dye". then he snapped out of it and said cheerfully "but not you... well not today..."

People in the comments saying ‘I can’t stop my blue’. Guys it’s being upgraded not stopping. The new inhalers have your blue AND steroid in it.

Pharmacy tech here in the U.S. do you understand the copays for Symbicort for some people?! Even the generic?! Check the first fill of the year through UHC or Aetna or any of them!! It’s going be more than $550.00 for one month!! Good luck out there!

Hi Doc, I have problems with powder inhalers. No matter how much I rinse after using it… the powder ones makes my voice hoarse or loosing my voice. In this common? I am now on Fostair but they are changing it soon to Luforbec.

And use a spacer! Everyone needs a spacer. If you can taste the meds, they aren’t getting in your lungs. Signed, your friendly neighborhood RT.

My dr still has mine on my repeat cos it’s the only thing between life and death for me as my asthma is very brittle and anything triggers it ! Best thing I heard from a respiratory consultant was “ lose weight and ur asthma will be cured “ so by her logic only fat people have asthma and it’s cured by losing weight !! Well done we have a solved the problem ..

I’m confused. This is how my asthma was treated for like the last 20 years. Montelukast + simbicort/Advair/flovent/etc and rescue inhaler if needed. Who was only getting a rescue without treating the actual problem?

But I'm an asthmatic who doesn't have flares and I'm also allergic to those two inhalers you mention. I just need the blue inhaler because I have to do airway clearance so I'm absolutely fucked
