@scenenoisetiktok: Ruby’s early 2000s ascent to pop stardom saw her pivot toward a modern, club-ready sound. But it was one the Egyptian songstress initially harboured a deep aversion to. On this episode of RetroNoise, we revisit an archival interview from the studio sessions of her 2007 album 'Mesheit Wara Ehsasy', revealing the creative friction behind her signature grooves. Ruby actively resisted the production style that defined her early catalog, confessing that house music initially caused her "terrible annoyance" and that she couldn't stand it. It took persistent urging from director and producer Sherif Sabri to convince her to trust his instincts and give the said sound a chance. That compromise quickly turned into an obsession. Ruby shares how she kept her iPod loaded with house tracks all day. Whether working out, cooking, or dancing in her room, she jokes that the unrelenting rhythms became her secret to staying in shape at the peak of her career.
