@curtisagardner: Silence in the automotive industry is too often mistaken as loyalty. Technicians are discouraged to speak up because their livelihood rests on it.
Dude Toyota warned us like six months ago to do what we need to do to keep our certifications. I highly doubt they just took it away.

Makes no sense what you’re saying. What certs would you need to do a recall at a dealer. Other then warranty alignments or power downs

That’s all these dealerships got now is recalls and oil changes. No more money to be made at these dealers while independents get all the cash work and blow off the hard stuff to dealer techs

This is the momentum but no one will do it. How many techs did you hear bitch and complain about how they got bent over on a ticket, how management is out of their minds or at the school house where techs at other dealerships are also getting screwed just as bad, if not worse, as you but when the shop meeting came about you heard nothing but crickets? Techs are either scared to speak up, prideful or it doesnt affect them cause they’re riding the gravy train to the bank because they’re sucking up to the right people. This momentum will too pass and nothing will be done because it’s easy to cower than grow a pair and move on or do something about it. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

as my first mechanic boss at an independent ag-diesel shop back in 1996 told me if your not busy its my fault for not keeping you busy and i need to get out and drum up work, ya he kept me busy and i was hourly, if your not certified to work on certain things it is the service mangagers job to find you work to keep you buys it is not mechanics job to keep/get work in shop..... your

Biggest problem in Automotive is mechanics have never had solidarity. Blame flat rate for that. When the SA hands me a gravy job and the guy behind me gets a crap one, I'm not the one speaking up, and vice versa. I ever there was a time for a national union, now is that time.

This is why technicians can’t be found or very less in the automotive industry. Big auto people don’t care about the little guys

17 years as a mechanic and I drive a truck now, not because I didn't like the work, but because I got tired of all the crap you have to deal with just to do the job.
