I’ve known Kamzy for many years and she has always been a role model for me. I had never seen a Tamil woman doing so well in politics and being so brave and outspoken. Kamzy Gunaratnam was born in Jaffna and came to Norway when she was three years old, after her family fled the war in Sri Lanka. She started in politics young. At 27, she became Oslo’s youngest Deputy Mayor. In 2021, she became the first Tamil elected to the Norwegian Parliament, and was re-elected in 2025. She also survived the Utøya terror attack in 2011. Now she is 38 and Norway’s Minister of Transport. From Jaffna to the Norwegian government. I’m very proud of my friend and how far she has come.@Kamzy Gunatatnam
