I did this in an email and got put on a PIP. I asked what of my deadlines and work load were now considered secondary to accommodate. I ended up doing both jobs and accused of insubordination lol

I'm glad I have the anti version of this boss. I dealt with a similar thing about 18 months ago. A teammate of mine left for another role in the company, I absorbed part of her job. My boss told me that was the plan, presented me with the new expectations for my current role, created a new job title (that didn't exist prior) specifically to reflect the new responsibility and negotiated a pay raise on my behalf, all before I agreed to anything.
