@bee.jeweled.coop: ❄️🐓 It may still feel like beautiful fall weather but cold wind and snow is just right around the corner! ✨Check my WINTER COOP guide for help getting your coop setup for the season✨ Chickens keep themselves warm by trapping pockets of air between their bodies and feathers, so it’s especially important to give them a solid wall as a windbreak! These greenhouse panels will protect your chickens from windchill, cold rain and snow. We also make sure that the coop is not drafty and even have a safe heater to keep the temperature 5-10 degrees warmer than the outside temp. It definitely helps cut out the chill. 👉 All of this is laid out in my guide, so make sure to check my profile for the details! #backyardchickens #chickenkeeping #chickencare #diychickencoop #winterchickencare
The real question is, where are you located? Is your winter the same as my winter lol

Ok so I’m only allowed to have 6 chickens where I live. I’m planning on buying one of your coop plans but wanted to know if the xl coop was to big? I just want to make sure they have the most comfortable spaces but I don’t know if bigger is better necessarily.

How many panels did you use total? We built our coop from your bejeweled chicken guide! Just trying to see how many packs of the panels I’ll need- if one pack of 12 4x2 panels was enough? Or should I get two?

I use wiggle wire and thick plastic sheeting. The wiggle wire track stays attached year round and the wiggle wire and plastic are stored during the warmer months. I’m not ready to winterize yet but the weather is perfect to get it done!
