I'm so tired of other web developers charging out the wazoo for websites and with the build your own website companies charging like $30 a month for simple design options that I'm now just building websites for people for markedly less up front and hosting their websites for only $10 a month on a subdomain with HTTP redirects if they want to use their own custom url because I think that everybody who needs access to host their portfolio or show off their project should be able to do so without having to go into debt for it. 🤷🏼♂️

What are your thoughts on SEO not going to even be applicable anymore. I’m not technical savvy so I can’t get to in depth, but I’ve been hearing from a lot that with the way AI searches it’s not going to be the same. So SEO is about to become obsolete

I’m a copywriter but also specialize in SEO and offer web design to my copy clients. I am redesigning a website for one of my clients who hired me for copy and all of the old URLs the designer set up are so baddd. Like /gallery-1-1-1-2-3 😭😭😭 web designers should absolutely understand SEO. They weren’t using correct heading tag structures, didn’t set up any metadata for the pages, no alt text. We’re basically starting from ground zero.

I agree with you to a point. Design and technical SEO are completely different skills and there are amazing people who can do both but it’s hard to come by them.

the over generalizing of design careers is a detriment to you and me. Small business can afford an independent seo consultant, if they can’t they should do it themselves. Also your examples sound more like ada compliance than true seo, grain of salt there.
