Where I’m from the private homers get ripped to shreds on local groups. It’s absolutely awful the rescues nearby have a huge problem with it. And I really don’t understand it because safely rehoming a dog to a good home that’s been vetted is so much better than the alternatives that we’re dealing with so many dogs get dumped and so many dogs get dumped at the shelter and then those dogs get euthanized

My dog was pulled of a euth list by a private rescue, we adopted her and then it opened up her foster home who got another dog off a euth list pretty shortly after

both of my cats were found through my vets office, actually. my oldest was born there and my youngest was found by another client who wasn't able to keep her. i was able to keep them both from becoming a burden on the local shelter and give them a good home. as long as you can provide love and care for the animal, it does not matter where they come from.

Exactly! I worked in a rescue for a few years. It was a private non-profit no kill shelter. There was plenty of dogs that needed a home. Different reasons. We also were only surrender and it was uncommon we took a dog from the local shelter. We were always full unfortunately especially when you have dogs that have been there for years

my Lil guy from a breeder home who's owner got arrested. all of the puppies got adopted which left this guy who was probably a stud. he is a big baby now

And people need to understand this with fosters. stop telling them to keep them! if they keep them, they cant open up their home to keep another dog/cat out of the shelter afterwards.
