i just landed my first interview in MONTHS then learned it’s an interview with ai. like a fake ai entity will question me before i’m even given a phone number for a human. how do you even impress ai??? if i weren’t desperate for full time work that would be such a red flag 💔

And then they give you an actual assignment to complete, which can take a full day's work or so, only to reject you after you have done as many as five interviews in the span of a month or so!

You legitimately cannot get an entry level job anywhere. Everything is 5+ years of experience. Same generations calling us lazy won’t even give you a shot. The jobs that will won’t even relocate you or anything. How are we supposed to start lives? We genuinely cannot afford to do anything.

I got laid off in February and finally got a job and started last week. During that time I noticed a couple things: AI interviews are terrible and make no sense, recruiters will contact you then ghost you just as quickly, jobs want you to have the exact same experience the posting lists or they won’t even consider you (no matter how close your experience is), and many of these jobs get cancelled after you apply. I either never heard back, rejected, or (and this was the absolute majority) they cancelled the job entirely

not to mention the interview process takes so long nowadays, 4-5 interviews has become the norm but those are dragged across multiple months. for one company ive had 9 interviews across the span of 3 months😅

it took me a year to get full time work and I am highly skilled. I tailored every resume. The only job I was able to get was entry level. This job can't pay my bills but I have to do what I have to do.

If we are not incorporating the reality that a) we need to work 32 hour weeks max b) boomer/gen x need to either retire or die and c) work from home / hybrid options must become the norm - then we will not positively recover.
