Here's my DIY job, 3/4" dowel for the shaft, 1 and 1/2 dowel for the handle, another dowel to help secure the joint. Can be made with Sandpaper, a drill, and a saw.

how do you find a fancy cane? or how to make more mobility aids fancier? (im currently a part time cane user but need a rollator/walker and I know how i wanna make it fun and cute when and if i get one but not fully sure about how to make it fancy since both the cane i have and the walker im planning on getting will end up being a hunk of mental and padding)

using a cane on the same side as the infirm leg, for me who has broken my right leg twice, like "bear marching" or bear walking, which for those eho dont know, is walking with your arms swinging in tandem with the same leg. left leg forward, left arm forward. its like walking with your arms and legs connect by string.

Ugh, I was recently diagnosed with arthritis. It's been very slow progressing until I lost my estrogen, then I finally got my knee looked at because it got worse. Still not bad enough to really do anything about, but it's good to know about these things in case I need it in the future.

TIL both of my canes have derby handles, ones a hurrycane I inherited and ones a cheapy I bought on Amazon because my local stores were out of stock(including Walmart) unless I wanted to spend $100

I just shaped it with some 40 grit and a sanding block in the bathroom. The challenging part for me was the through hole for the shaft. I put the shaft dowel all the way through the handle dowel to maximize the contact area since the grains are perpendicular. That also makes the third pin dowel essential for strength
