@saltsugarandstories: Y’all, Uncle Andy put on his cowboy hat and put EVERYBODY to work in that kitchen. 😂 Kenny was working, Aunt Kathy was working, I was doing whatever they told me to do… and somehow we ended up with the BEST candied apple I have ever eaten in my entire life. 🍎 Now, no pressure or anything, but we told Uncle Andy that Kenny wants a Bronco, and whether or not he gets one is riding entirely on the success of this video. 😂 So y’all do with that information what you will. But seriously, SAVE THIS RECIPE because these candied apples came out PERFECT. That candy coating was hard, shiny and clear like red glass, with the best little cinnamon flavor. 🍎 UNCLE ANDY’S CANDIED APPLES 3 cups sugar ½ cup Karo syrup 1 cup water ¼ tsp cinnamon 5 cinnamon Red Hots ¼ tsp red food coloring, or color of your choice Apples, washed and completely dried Add the sugar, Karo syrup and water to a pot. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches EXACTLY 300°F. Once it hits 300°F, add the cinnamon, Red Hots and food coloring. Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot candy mixture and set aside to cool. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes to an hour until completely cool and hardened.
