@virginiazoo: Have you ever wondered what a cross between a turkey and a dinosaur would look like?🦃🦖 Well, allow us to introduce you to the cassowary! Cassowaries are large, flightless birds that make deep, thunder-like booming sounds (some of the lowest frequency calls of any bird in the world). Their intimidating, dinosaur-like look is complete with a hollow pointed casque on their head and razor-sharp inner toes. Despite their fearsome look, these birds primarily eat fruit and live a solitary life. Their species is threatened in the wild by deforestation, car strikes, poaching and predation by dogs and feral pigs. #vazoo #dinosaur #cassowary #birdsoftiktok
