I hope that the butterfly piece gets an honorary blue ribbon becuase it sounds like it wasn’t their fault they were judged in the wrong class? That means there’s another class that has a blue ribbon winner, who doesn’t deserve to be bumped to second as you were, because of a judging mistake.

I came back to find this bc I am experiencing the SAME thing at the Tulsa state fair! The winner of the category is not needlepoint, it's embroidery. Very pretty, but NOT NEEDLEPOINT

I once won first place in a zinnia category with a Mexican sunflower and when I brought it to their attention they told me I entered the only sunflower so they just added me over and wouldn't change it and it still haunts me 😂😭

I’m still completely flummoxed over how the judges didn’t zero in on the fact that every piece was a needlepoint except the embroidery. Because I can see how lay-folk would get thrown by ‘needlework’ versus ‘needlepoint’ but how did every official miss/give a pass to the embroidery being placed in the needlepoint class.

Only just joining this story now and so glad they recategorised! Well done! It also reminds me of my husband’s grandmother, who got second place once because they judged the BACK of her (hardanger) work thinking it was the front. Her family were so annoyed on her behalf, but imagine being so neat you were judged on the wrong side and they still think it’s worth 2nd place 😂

That’s so good to know they can review things!! I was trying to explain to someone how this is so frustrating- it’s like winning a ribbon for a knitted piece when the category is crochet

one time I won the state fair in photography & then got kicked out of the contest because they had the wrong address on file. I wish I’d had your courage to fight, congratulations!!

I’m so glad they looked into this. I entered both needlepoint and embroidery and I would be really upset if the judges didn’t judge them fairly.

We take great pride in our judges. If they did the judges would not have even let the first place one in there. I do all needlework. There is nothing close abt needlepoint and embroidery.
