i know violet isn’t the narrator but it really makes no sense to me that the story is in first person if jesinia is the narrator, especially with some of the… spicier scenes. like why would jesinia be narrating that 😭 it just makes it hard to conceptualize who the true narrator is

This makes a lot of sense though. The scribes have been said not to be trusted by xaden. And the war college has always hid the truth so why would they have scribes tell the story truthfully? I feel like we should’ve known because since the beginning we knew basgiath has only told their versions of the story

I think this book is really shedding to light how unreliable Violet is as a narrator. Because she doesn’t know the true histories. She just knows what she was told. And the books are from her perspective most of the time.

Wait was I the only one that’s been saying it’s an unreliable narrative from the start. Like it’s not violet telling the story it’s jesenia. So basically a big game of telephone and jesenia can change whatever she wants .

I’ve heard that Violet is not a trusted narrator (for many reasons). There is also theories that the scribes are telling their story after the war has happened and that they aren’t telling it right.
