Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson doesn’t believe Trump’s war with Iran is about nuclear weapons. He believes Israel pushed President Trump into the war in Iran with three aims: to project regional hegemony, to diminish the power of the six Gulf States and to get the U.S. out of the Middle East. In an interview with NPR’s Steve Inskeep, Carlson said “Israel wants our bases out of the Middle East. I said this to Trump to his face in the Oval Office days before the war began. And he looked at me and said ‘Yes, you’re right. But in the end we all die anyway, so it doesn’t matter.’” We reached out to the White House for comment and they did not address that point specifically, instead sending along a social media post by the president that describes Carlson and others as “stupid people” who want Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
