Such a tragic loss. We need to educate children about the dangers of water. Being a strong swimmer can’t guarantee survival in such cold waters. It’s important to be able to swim but it’s more important to stay clear of such dangerous bodies of water. If you need to make wudu just use bottled water or make Tayammum. Tayammum is a dry ablution using clean earth or dust to purify oneself for prayer when water is unavailable or harmful to use. It serves as a valid substitute for wudhu (minor ablution).
