In old Guyanese and Caribbean folklore, some people believe that when a baby is born with a thin veil, or caul, covering part of their face, it means the child was born with a special connection to the spirit world. Folklore says these children may be able to see or sense spirits that ordinary people cannot. Some elders even believe the veil protects them from certain supernatural forces. Of course, this is an old folk belief—not something scientifically proven. But in the villages, people still whisper: “A child born with the veil can see what others can't…” 👻🌙
