My hair used to dry out quite quickly, and I found that dry hair was much more likely to break. ✨ Keeping manipulation to a minimum: I stopped handling my hair every day and wore more low-manipulation or protective styles, such as twists, braids and cornrows. This really helped reduce breakage. 🚿 Washing my hair weekly: Being consistent with washing my hair every week. Keeping my scalp and hair clean, while following up with my moisture routine, helped me maintain a healthier routine. 🪮 Detangling gently: I always detangled with conditioner or a product that gave my hair plenty of slip. I also made sure to start from the ends in small sections and work my way up. 🌙 Protecting my hair at night: Sleeping with a satin bonnet or on a satin pillowcase made a noticeable difference by reducing friction and helping to prevent breakage. ✂️ Keeping up with trims: I used to avoid trims because I didn't want to lose any length, but staying on top of them when needed helped prevent split ends from travelling up the hair shaft and causing more breakage in the long run. 🤎 For me, consistency has made the biggest difference.
