If your freestyle feels rushed or your glide feels off, this drill is for you. 👉 It's called the hesitation drill. And it's one of the best ways to find your natural rhythm and the right glide distance at the same time. 👉 Here's how it works. ✅ Swim normal freestyle. But when your recovering arm passes your head, stop it for exactly one second before continuing forward. 🔵 Just one second. Right there. Arm above the water, paused, hand just past your head. 👉 Then after that one second, continue moving your arm forward and go straight into your catch. 🔴 Here's why that pause is so powerful. ✅ It forces you to wait for the right moment before starting your catch. Not too early. Not too late. Exactly when your body has rotated into the perfect position. 🔵 And because your other arm is still gliding in front of you during that pause, you automatically find the right distance between your two arms. Not too much glide. Not too little. 👉 The result is a catch that feels easier and more powerful. And a rhythm that feels smooth and controlled instead of rushed and chaotic. ✅ Do this drill for one or two lengths. Then swim normal freestyle. You will immediately feel the difference in your timing. 🎯 If you want to know exactly what your freestyle rhythm looks like and what's causing it to feel off, film yourself on your phone and send it inside the Swim Success Training app. I'll personally review your stroke and tell you exactly what to fix first.
