My nervous system's love language is confinement, and I'm just sorry I didn't figure that out sooner. I know that probably sounds strange to some people, especially because I absolutely hate being restrained or feeling like I don't have control. But confinement and restraint are two completely different things to me. Confinement, when it's on MY terms, is comforting. It's regulating. It's calming. It's the feeling of being securely contained without being trapped. Give me my weighted blankets, my weighted hoodie, my sleep pod, or the right kind of physical contact from someone I genuinely trust, and I'm in heaven. There's something about that steady, consistent pressure that makes my entire body relax. My breathing slows, my muscles release tension, my mind gets quieter, and that constant feeling of being on high alert finally starts to fade. I call it liquefying, because that's literally what it feels like. My entire body just melts. I'm not looking to be detained, restrained, or have my freedom taken away. Quite the opposite. I need to know I'm in control and can move whenever I choose. I don't want to be trapped. I want to feel safely contained. For me, that pressure is one of the most effective ways to come down from hypervigilance and feel genuinely calm, comfortable, and happy. Not everyone's nervous system responds the same way, and that's ok. I'm just glad I've finally figured out what mine has been asking for all along. #SensoryRegulation #DeepPressure #NervousSystemRegulation #Hypervigilance #NervousSystemHealing
