quitmormon.org is the easiest way to leave. Pro bono lawyer. I was lucky to get it done before you have to get the letter notarized.

when you no longer believe in the rules then they have no power over you. You don't have to do shiii besides decide to no longer be morman or anything for that matter

to formerly send a letter is to acknowledge that there's some sort of credence to what they're saying. if its made up you can walk away without consequence.

Could that be the case with every religion??? I know that catholics also have to declare/ask to be removed from their registration.

I was a mailman in salt lake the day they announced that policy. I picked up SO many letters addressed to church records that week. it was a huge shelf breaker

Now you have to have a NOTARIZED letter too, they keep adding new steps to leaving. Also they still keep a file on you and update it, they just list you as a non-member. Super normal and chill church. 😅

It's not just baptized. Two of my kids are on the records because they were given a baby blessing. They won't remove their names....

my letter saying my name was removed from the records is wrapped up in my Vans Pride Flag! I'll be putting it behind my flag when my wife and I get our forever home

I'm exMormon. Left the church when I was 18. My mum and I officially had our names removed from the church records together. Yes, we got a letter in response confirming our names had been removed. It was dated 2 days after my 18th birthday in 2003. I used to keep ot on my wall. My dad and siblings (and most on my dad's side of the family) are all still members.

In Germany you have to go to your local municipal office and pay a fee to be removed from a church (evangelical or catholic), even if you never actually joined. If your parents made a church subscription for you via baptism as a baby you will have to pay the church taxes automatically once you start working. Ask me how I know...was inside a church maybe 5 times my entire life including my baptism😂
