Why sell one $10 ticket when you can sell three $15 beers

Of all the sports baseball is definitely the most social, it’s a nice addition to appeal to fans who are there more to hang out for a night rather than actively watch the game

Baseball hasn’t had the greatest attendance, especially in bad teams. The appeal to a lot of people not interested in the sport, is that baseball games are still very fun , social ways to spend an afternoon. Why not emphasize social areas instead of maintaining empty seats

Unless it’s opening day or a really big series, the Orioles don’t use that area and it looks bad on broadcast. It will overall be a much better fan experience as someone that’s been going to that ballpark since it’s opened.

St Louis did a very similar thing to Busch Stadium more than 10 years ago

Rockies are one of the teams doing a monthly or annual BallPark Pass. $40 a month or $200 a year and you get a standing room only/Rooftop ticket for every home game. That's how I was able to see so many home games this season. Well worth the money.

Why not? The MLB doesn’t fill their stadiums unless it’s the playoffs or opening day. So why not make something cool out of the space?

Unless there’s an hour long intermission, I wouldn’t enjoy spending time in that sort of space. I’m there to watch the game

I was really tempted by the $200 SRO “season ticket” offered by the Twins at the start of the season. Entry to every game, plenty of bars and spaces to belly up to around the park, and discount tickets if I wanted a real seat. I would’ve done it if I had planned to spend enough time at the park to make it worth it.

trying to make Sporting events more social events. next apartments and condos attached to the stadium along with grocery stores, banks, doctors office, etc so super fans and workers can spend every last dime on them.

These spaces also allow teams to make revenue outside of the season by it becoming an event venue.

Yeah. Orioles don’t use that section anymore. It was for their chick fila kids club a long time ago. I doubt there will be any deals.

The seats were effectively gone anyway. They almost never let anyone sit there anymore. But you know, last offseason they turned a couple former skyboxes into club level bars and they were a massive hit. So maybe they’re looking for that.

Just doesn’t make sense to have 50-60k seats when most teams are only drawing about 30k on average tbh. These are good solutions.

Most games this season those sections weren’t even open because they didn’t wanna staff those sections with how empty the upper decks were

Camden Yards sold out every game when it was built. But at the time, there was no Nationals in DC and the Ravens didn’t exist yet. The population of Baltimore has also decreased. I don’t like the design, but I guess it’s a necessary change.

I like them. They’re fun for people that don’t follow closely or want more of a bar atmosphere. The Jays one is great, you meet people and watch the game.

camden yards would only open that section for a handful of games each season (weekends against ny/bos, giveaways, etc). it looked horrible being empty. this will get people in with SRO for cheap, and they will spend tons once inside. it'll look better then a mostly empty stadium on a Tuesday night

Camden has the “Pepsi Perch” or porch in LF… sat there a few years ago. 40$ ticket got you the seat in the section and all you could eat/drink of a limited menu. Pretty good deal. Idk if they still have it though.
